What a great point! Nudists, who tend to be relatively "open minded" also have to potential to be shocked when confronted with something they are not commonly exposed to.

I used to have a 14g hood piercing and never thought it to be terribly unusual, however when dealing with an individual from a more conservative culture (be it India, Texas or any other) things like nudity and piercings do invoke an innate curiosity. Kinda like when I go to the country and the little preschool aged kids stare at me because I'm not Caucasian or African American. I just look different than anything they've seen. So they stare. Gawk, even. I don't think they mean to be rude.

I wouldn't take it as a totally bad thing, at least not all the time. I used to wonder why some people stared at me when I walked by. Then I found out they were looking because they usually either thought I was pretty or were admiring my tattoos. Took me almost 20 years to figure that out. Hey, if I saw your piercing I'd want a better took too!

So does the weight of your ring ever bother you? I used to have two 6g rings in each ear and they were very heavy. I also had to eventually remove my hood piercing because it was, well, getting pulled on an awful lot.
