Being a "True Nudist" I try to be naked as much as possible when outside of my home.
of course Laws prevent my being totally nude 100% of the time, but I tend to "stretch" the limit of these laws.
in nice weather,I walk trails in wooded parks nude, swim in lakes and ponds nude, and I also drive my car nude as well. laws differ from State to State, here in WA State "Nudity laws" are rather vague,if you are "only nude" and not sexually stimulated(or enguaging in a sexual act) being "Nude" is something one can get away with pretty frequently here.
I have been "Caught" by passerby, hiking trails nude, swimming nude, and even by a Park Ranger, who simply told me to put some clothes on,most of the time people dont make a big deal out of it and most "wish" they were comfortable enough with thier own bodies to be nude like I am.
I have several dream spots here where I am comfortable being nude outside of the boundaries of a "legally Posted Nudist Area".
I'd like to know if there are many others, who like me,are comfortable with being nude in non-nudist outdoor areas.

Most Men and Women don't care if we are Nude, but if they have children in tow...WATCH OUT!

Re: Being Nude outside of Legally posted Nudist facilities
Wed, February 28, 2007 - 6:29 PMMost of the time I spend outdoors nude IS outside of legally posted areas, since outside of private clubs, there are no legally posted areas in Maryland (where I live) or Virginia (where I frequently go backpacking or camping). Unfortunately, laws vary, as you say. Simple nudity is illegal in Maryland and no-one has to complain. If a police officer or ranger or Fish & Wildlife Officer sees you naked, you can be charged with indecent exposure, even if you and he are the only ones in a 25 mile radius. So outdoor nudity pretty much always involves varying levels of paranoia. I remember being in camp on a backpacking trip with a buddy. I was naked, as I usually am in camp, and lying in the tent reading. My dog, who was outside the tent with my buddy, began to bark like crazy. Fortunately in this case, he only occasionally gets naked outdoors (my buddy, not the dog). I asked what was going on and he told me that a ranger was approaching. I had to scramble to find some shorts to put on before I could scramble outside the tent to restrain my dog, who is very protective. We had hiked at least 3/4 of a mile off the trail along a stream and then another hundred yards away from the stream. We didn't dream that anyone would stumble across us, much less a ranger. All that and I still had to put on shorts or risk being charged. Would he have charged me? I don't know, in my experience most rangers are pretty reasonable. Could he have charged me? Absolutely, and that's all that matters. -

Re: Being Nude outside of Legally posted Nudist facilities
Sat, March 31, 2007 - 6:57 AMYou bring up a good point Darrel
Laws do differ from State to State and wether an officer of the law CHOOSES to arrest you if you are caught in public nude is a variable situation.
Being caught in outdoor wooded areas in Massachusetts by ANY branch of law enforcement is a "Guarranteed Arrest" but go just over the border into Vermont and it can be a different outcome entirely. Here are two of my own personal experiences:
In 1998 I was nude hiking alone in Western Massachusetts in the Berkshire Mountains,I stopped about a mile in the woods to lie out in the full sun on a rock outcropping that overlooked a gorge below with rushing water flowing through it. I wasn't "doing" ANYTHING but lying out nude on that rock(with my penis 100% flaccid) when a U.S Forest Ranger came upon me. He flew into a loud tirade! telling me that Public Nudity is outlawed in Massachusetts, and that my "presence in these pristine woods offended his senses" and that he was a "victim of my nakedness",I was arrested and charged with Indecent exposure, taken in handcuffs to a police station in West Charlemont MA,I was held there overnight and had to post "Bail" the next morning I went before a Judge and was fined 1'000:00 and placed on one years unsupervised Probation.
Indecent exposure? exposure to WHOM I asked? The Judge replied "to the Officer who found you nude".Apparantly in Massachusetts...thats all it takes!
Then In 2001 I was hiking with a Buddy in Brattleboro VT at a place called "Rock River".We were WAY far in the woods about a mile and a half and walking along the rocky riverbed nude with our clothes in our backpacks when a VT Forest Ranger came upon Us,First thing I thought was "Ohh Shit! this is going to be a repeate of what happened to me in Massachusetts" but the guy was totally COOL! all he said was "Mornin Guys,Nice weather today..you two look comfortable, don't forget your SPF 30 sunscreen..gonna be a hot one this afternoon" ...and he just nodded a goodbye and walked on ahead of us! Either the Ranger was Ok with nude people in his woods,or he didn't want to bother with an arrest that day, either way neither of Us put our shorts back on and stayed nude until sundown that day. -

Re: Being Nude outside of Legally posted Nudist facilities
Sat, March 31, 2007 - 4:45 PMI love Vermont for exactly that reason. When I was in my late 20's and early 30's I spent a week camping in Vermont every year. It's a 10 hour drive for me but its worth it. Weather permitting, I would spend the entire week nude. I can't do it every year anymore, but my gf and I spent a week on Knight Island two years ago and it was awesome. Its a state park and the entire island is clothing optional, as explained by the Ranger who lives there! I spent the whole week nude.
Unfortunately both Maryland and Virginia are more like Massachusetts than Vermont.
